What’s New with CC 2019

Adobe just announced significant updates to InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator—including new features and practices that will make a huge difference in the way you work. Below you’ll find a few of the great new features.

But just knowing about what’s new is not enough. You also have to learn how to apply it to your workflow! That’s where CreativePro Week 2019 comes in. We’re the “how to” conferences for creative pros like you, and we’ll be covering tips, tricks, and techniques to ensure you get the most out of these apps.

What’s New In InDesign?

No matter if you’re a beginner or advanced InDesign user, you’ll enjoy the new features in InDesign CC 2019, which include:

  • Properties panel: We’ve seen a Properties panel appear in recent versions of Photoshop and Illustrator, and finally it’s InDesign’s turn!
  • Adjust Layout: This is a “life-changing” feature for anyone who needs to change the size or dimensions of their documents or page margins. Extremely helpful.
  • Space Between: If you’ve ever made lists where you need to control the space before and after each item, you’ll rejoice at this new feature!
  • Content-Aware Fitting: This new fitting feature uses Adobe’s Sensei machine-learning technology to help you fit the most important part of an image into a graphic frame.
  • Font features: Not only has Typekit has been rebranded “Adobe Fonts,” but now you no longer have a limit on the number you can activate! Plus, you can find, filter, and activate fonts directly from a new Font menu.
  • Import PDF Comments: Do you get comments in PDF files that you need to implement in InDesign? Now you can import them… and InDesign can even apply some changes for you!
  • Table Footnotes: This has been one of the most-requested features for years: You can now add footnotes to text inside a table. Celebrate!

There are over a dozen more features in InDesign CC 2019. Learn about them all here, at InDesignSecrets.com.

What’s New in Photoshop?

Photoshop continues to mature and provide applause-worthy improvements, including:

  • Content Aware Fill: This feature has been around for years, but it’s suddenly become far better and more powerful!
  • Frame Tool: Now Photoshop lets you create frames and drop images into them—awesome for laying out flyers or anytime you know the shape of a mask in advance.
  • Blend Mode Preview: It’s so much faster to find just the right blend mode now.
  • Distribute Spacing: Photoshop took another great feature from InDesign: distribute spacing between objects of different sizes. So helpful for UI/UX design!
  • Undo Shortcuts: Yes… it’s true… you can now press Command/Ctrl-Z repeatedly to undo multiple times. And multiple redo works like the other apps, too.
  • Free Transform changes: This one might trip you up if you’re not aware of the massive changes. For example, you no longer have to hold down the Shift key to scale proportionally!

You can read about even more great features and see those features in depth in our article on CreativePro.com

What’s New in Illustrator?

Adobe Illustrator wasn’t left out when it comes to improvements! Check out these awesome new features:

  • Freeform Gradients: Gradients and gradient meshes are always tricky, but this new feature lets you make incredible and complex gradients easily.
  • Global Edits: If you make two or more copies of the same art, Illustrator can now magically make changes to one of them apply to them all.
  • Custom Toolbar: You know Illustrator’s toolbar is chock full of many (too many!) tools. Now you can customize it to match the tools you use.

There are a dozen other features that make Illustrator better. You can learn about more of them here.
